Introducing the Newest Category: Sculpted Objects

We are thrilled to announce a brand new addition to the Wood Awards 2024: the Sculpted Objects category!

As we continue to evolve and celebrate the diverse talent within the world of woodworking, we are excited to open our doors to a whole new realm of creativity and craftsmanship.

Defining Sculpted Objects:

In this category, we welcome single pieces or ensembles from individual practitioners or collectives. What sets this category apart is its focus on uniqueness and artistry. Sculpted Objects encompass a broad spectrum of creations including, but not limited to, standalone pieces, bodies of work with a common theme, or commissioned projects. Each entry should represent a distinctive vision and mastery of woodworking skills.

Eligibility Criteria:

Participants from all timber backgrounds are encouraged to submit their work. Whether you are a seasoned artisan, a budding creator, or part of a collaborative effort, if your creation embodies the essence of sculpted woodworking, we want to see it! Moreover, we welcome entries from anyone involved in the creation process, with the permission of the current owner.

Expanding Opportunities:

With the addition of the Sculpted Object category, we are proud to now offer four distinct categories under the Furniture and Object umbrella:

  1. Bespoke Furniture: Custom-made pieces showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and design.
  2. Production Furniture: Mass-produced items that excel in both functionality and aesthetics.
  3. Sculpted Object: Unique creations reflecting individual expression and creativity through woodworking.
  4. Student: A platform for aspiring woodworkers to showcase their talent and innovation.

Celebrating Creativity and Innovation:

The Sculpted Object category provides a platform for woodworkers to push the boundaries of traditional woodworking and explore new forms of expression. Whether it’s a one-of-a-kind sculpture, a series of interconnected pieces, or a commissioned artwork, this category celebrates the artistry and ingenuity inherent in woodworking.
