Wood Awards Events

The Wood Awards comes to Shoreditch this September with a dedicated exhibition celebrating the 2026 shortlist.

Taking place at UNLOCKED Shoreditch from 15–17 September, in partnership with Material Matters, the exhibition will showcase the shortlisted Furniture & Object projects alongside content celebrating the wider Wood Awards shortlist across architecture, furniture and product design.

Selected from more than 200 entries, this year’s shortlist comprises 20 Buildings and 14 Furniture & Object projects, demonstrating the creativity, craftsmanship, technical ingenuity and environmental responsibility shaping contemporary design and construction in wood.

The exhibition forms part of Shoreditch Design Week during London Design Festival and offers visitors the opportunity to discover some of the most exciting timber design and making taking place across the UK today.

What does it mean to shape buildings around a palette of available natural resources, with each material chosen for its particular strengths?

Bringing together speakers from three Wood Awards 2026 project teams, this live talk will explore how thoughtful combinations of hardwoods, softwoods, rammed earth, reclaimed materials, engineered timber and other bio-based materials can shape more resource-conscious design. The panel will consider how design can respond more directly to underused natural resources, what can be learnt from combining materials, how specification can support healthy, managed woodlands, and what changes are needed in the supply chain to make this approach easier.
